The Lipstick/Pig Fiasco

September 10, 2008
This latest turmoil in Election 2008 when Obama declared the other day that you can put lipstick on a pig but it is still a pig (I believe that to be his words from my memory), gives him somewhat of a pass as far as what he intended to convey and to whom. I am hearing on Fox News at least one dozen politicians and operatives from both parties explaining the true meaning of Obama's statement. Are all these concerned individuals mind readers or The Amazing Kreskin? If myself and all of us were to be deposed in a courtroom, none of us could probatively testify pertaining to anything other than the playback. Only Obama knows if he was furthering in a truly disgusting manner the joke that Sarah Palin at the RNC Convention offered, impromptu as a necessity when the teleprompter failed. You cannot prove as to Obama and his joke malice of forethought because we do not know his intention in saying what he did. The tie between an innocuous joke designed to make the convention laugh by Sarah Palin, and a potentially insulting remark by Obama is a weak circumstantial piece of evidence which only brings up a sidebar as to why he chose to even go there after Sarah Palin's joke which preceeded Obama's statement by a hairline time frame. Certainly he should not have used language that has now stirred up a hornet's nest albeit it's intent is unprovable. The bottom line is he again angered a lot of people in America and has a history of doing just that. Whether his objectionable statements sit firmly on a grey line of guilt, confusion or innocence, if he keeps getting this reception we are all going to be eating salmon on November 5. Salmon has a lot of fish oil and is low fat, much better for a society plagued with obesity.
